Year 1 - English
Following and writing instructions to make a sandwich: reading and writing
In this unit, pupils practise following and writing instructions. They first design a sandwich and look at the features of instructions, before writing their set of instructions.
You will learn to write a sequence of instructions in order.
Re-reading what has been written so far will help to know what instruction will come next. Each instruction should be numbered followed by sequencing language, such as '4. Finally,'.
tells us to do something.
Mistake: Pupils may not recall what they have written so far. Correction: Spend time in the lesson re-reading what they have written so far. Then, refer back to when you made the sandwiches to sequence the final instructions.
