Year 1 - English
Following and writing instructions to make a sandwich: reading and writing
In this unit, pupils practise following and writing instructions. They first design a sandwich and look at the features of instructions, before writing their set of instructions.
You will learn to name and understand some features of instructions.
Instructions tell us how something should be done. Instructions are written as commands using verbs to tell us how something should be done.
tells us how something should be done.
Mistake: Pupils may struggle to examine the features if they are uncertain of word class. Correction: The primary focus is for pupils to understand that sequencing language and verbs help to explain how to do something clearly in the correct order - focus on this more with pupils who find word class difficult.
