Pupils will use disassembly to investigate an existing piece of flat-pack furniture, including material sources. They will use this information to inform designs. Pupils will focus on user-centred design to create and develop ideas and then plan the manufacturer for a product.
You will learn to finish the surface of a product to a high standard.
Surface finishes are coatings or treatments applied to a material or product. Before applying any surface finish to timber, the timber must be properly prepared.

Mistake: Timbers need a varnish to protect them. Correction: There are many different options to finish the surface of timber and these are chosen depending on the type of timber, intended use, planned aesthetics etc.
