Year 2 - Art and design
Maps to explore identity, journeys, and imagination.
In this unit, pupils explore how maps can be used in a different way by artists, to tell stories about who we are and where we've been. They will create their own personal maps, think about identity, places and people that are imporant to them and journeys they make.
You will learn to use layering and mixed-media to create map artwork.
Artists use layering to show complexity and meaning. Artists and designers sometimes plan their artwork first to help them explore ideas.
when you use different types of materials to make one piece of art.
Mistake: Pupils may think that they can't move away from their initial plan. Correction: Artists change their artwork as they go by responding to reflection and feedback.
