Year 2 - Art and design
Maps to explore identity, journeys, and imagination.
In this unit, pupils explore how maps can be used in a different way by artists, to tell stories about who we are and where we've been. They will create their own personal maps, think about identity, places and people that are imporant to them and journeys they make.
You will learn to create a personal map sketch.
Maps can be imaginative or symbolic. Artists draw on their own experiences about special places and journeys in their own lives.
when you go from one place to another.
Mistake: Children may think that maps show only real places, exactly as they are in real life. Correction: Artists create expressive maps from their memory and imagination that may not look like real life.
