In this unit pupils will represent multiples of ten using numerals and names and use knowledge of facts and unitising to add and subtract multiples of ten.
You will learn to estimate the position of multiples of ten on a 0 - 100 number line.
There are ten jumps of ten on a line from 0 to 100. The multiples of ten are equally spaced.
To find a value that is close enough to the right answer, usually with some thought or calculation involved. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Children may find it hard to draw their own number lines accurately. Correction: Encourage children to mark the midpoint and equally space the numbers by using fingers or an object to space them out.
