Year 2 - Science
Healthy me
This unit covers the importance of exercise, balanced nutrition, and hygiene for humans. It involves performing simple tests, observing closely, and identifying and classifying information. Emphasis is on asking questions, using observations to suggest answers, and gathering and recording data.
You will learn to describe how nutritionists carry out tests and make observations to help us make healthy choices.
Scientists who study food and how it works in your body are called nutritionists. Nutritionists carry out tests and make observations of the food we eat.
The health of a living thing is how well or ill it is. A healthy diet keeps a person or animal well. Include the word in a full scientific explanation, not as a single label.
Mistake: All fat in the diet can cause ill health. Correction: Explanation that humans need some fat in their diet but that they should not eat large amounts of fat regularly if they want to have a healthy diet.
