Year 7 - English
Step into the unknown: fiction reading and creative writing
In this unit, pupils develop their fiction reading and creative writing by reading extracts from famous fiction and then emulating key techniques in their own writing. They start by securing and extending their knowledge of key sentence grammar, before reading and emulating the extracts.
You will learn to plan and describe an image using purposeful linguistic devices and sentence structures.
Responding to an image can involve considering what first draws your attention and then zooming in. Effective descriptive writing allows the reader to visualise the scene.
writing in an interesting and detailed way.
Mistake: Everyone will respond to an image in the same way. Correction: How you respond to an image, and what you choose to zoom in on, will be different for each person since we're all unique with different memories and experiences.
