Year 8 - English
Taking a stand
In this unit, pupils learn about the different ways that writers have expressed their points of view across history. They look at some key techniques that writers use, such as motif and triad, before reading a speech, article, poem and song. They finally write and deliver their own presentation.
You will learn to deliver a presentation, using effective body language and strategies to ensure a confident delivery.
Body language and eye contact support the successful delivery of a presentation. Gesture and posture can be used to engage the audience and to add emphasis to important points.
non-verbal cues or gestures such as facial expressions and posture.
Mistake: Content alone is enough for an effective formal presentation. Correction: Consider the most engaging speakers and how they use tone, gestures and eye contact. Delivering a presentation is so much more than just the words on a page.
