In this unit, knowledge of circles and polygons is drawn upon to find the arc length and area of a circle sector and areas of complex compound shapes.
You will learn to convert between metric and imperial measurements.
Ratios are often used to describe converting between metric and imperial measurements. The ratio is either in the simplest form or in unitary form.
Metric units are based around the standard units of metre, gram and litre. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: 800 cm is further than 80 m because 800 is a larger number than 80. Correction: Each unit of distance (e.g. cm, metre, km) describes a different-sized distance. 1 cm is 1/100 the size of a metre, meaning that 800 cm = 8 m is a shorter distance than 80 m.
