In this unit, knowledge of circles and polygons is drawn upon to find the arc length and area of a circle sector and areas of complex compound shapes.
You will learn to read values from various scales and convert between units of measure.
Reading values from scales in a useful skill in a variety of contexts. Different countries may use different measurements.
Metric units are based around the standard units of metre, gram and litre. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Pupils may assume every scale increases by 1 each time or that there are 10 increments. Correction: Ensure pupils are counting how many gaps along the scale and calculating the increment size.
