Year 11 - Computing
Digital media
In this unit pupils will develop pre-production skills used in digital media. They will learn the importance of understanding client requirements, planning, developing timeframes and the steps involved in these processes. They will be exposed to a variety of software tools and learn how to use them.
You will learn to describe what a digital artefact is and how different types are used in industry.
A digital artefact is anything that has been created and is stored digitally. A physical artefact is something you can touch, see and use in the real world.
an object or piece of information that is created, stored and manipulated in a digital format. Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: A poster that is created using software is digital even when printed out. Correction: The source of the design is digital if it was created using software. However, once that digital design is printed onto a physical medium like paper, the resulting poster itself becomes a physical artefact.
