Unit Summary
In this unit pupils will review their knowledge from the EYFS of counting in all its forms to and from 10. They will compare and order numbers to 10 practically and will consider the role of zero to represent nothing.
Lesson Summary
You will learn to count out from a larger group to form a new group and explain that the last number counted tells you how many there are.
Key Notes
- Revisit counting out or 'giving' a number of things from a larger group, not just counting the number there are.
- Focus on the stopping number which gives the cardinal value.
- Start counting at a number other than one and stop at a given number e.g. we can count from 5 to 8.

- How many: You ask how many when you want to know the number in a set or group.
- Group: A group is a collection of objects or images.

- Unnecessarily re-counting all objects in a group rather than counting on from an existing amount.
