Unit Summary
In this unit pupils will review their knowledge from the EYFS of counting in all its forms to and from 10. They will compare and order numbers to 10 practically and will consider the role of zero to represent nothing.

You will learn to count objects one by one and know how many altogether.

- Keep one-to-one correspondence between number words and objects.
- Know objects can be moved from an irregular arrangement into a line to aid counting.
- Understand that the last number counted tells us 'how many' so far (the cardinal principle).
Vocabulary To Learn
- Altogether: To bring two or more numbers together and find out how many.
- Count: Count means to say the number names in order and to count a set to find out how many there are.
- Number word: A number word is the word we say for that number, so the number word for 2 is two.
- group: A group is a collection of objects or images.
Common Mistakes To Avoid
- Missing out an object or counting one twice. Recounting without concluding how many there are.
