In this unit pupils will divide a 2-digit and a 3-digit number by a single-digit number using partitioning and representations and divide a 2-digit number by a single-digit number by using short division.
You will learn to divide a 2-digit by a 1-digit number using partitioning and representations (no remainders).
Skip counting in steps of the divisor can be used to divide 2-digit numbers. Dividends can be partitioned into multiples of the divisor to divide efficiently.

Mistake: Some children may continue to share one by one when dividing. Correction: Encourage children to skip count in the divisor and remind children that it is an efficient way of dividing.
