Year 7 - Maths
Transformations
This unit introduces pupils to shape tranformations: enlargements, rotations, reflections and translations both by hand and with technology.
You will learn to understand the nature of enlargements and appreciate what changes and what is invariant.
An enlargement means a change in size. The lengths of the lines may change when enlarged.
Enlargement is a transformation that causes a change of size. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Enlargement only refers to an increase in size. Correction: The transformation 'enlargement' refers to a change of size that can be either a stretch or a shrink.
