Year 7 - Maths
Transformations
This unit introduces pupils to shape tranformations: enlargements, rotations, reflections and translations both by hand and with technology.
You will learn to understand the nature of a translation and appreciate what changes and what is invariant.
The length of the lines do not change when translated. The angles inside an object do not change when translated.
Translation is a transformation in which every point of a shape moves the same distance in the same direction. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Students may confuse the term transformation for translation. Correction: Translation is one type of transformation.
