Outdoor adventurous activities: teamwork, fitness and movement skills
This unit explores skillful movement and physical fitness through teamwork challenges. Pupils will develop teamwork skills and understand both why and how to warm up for different types of physical activity.
You will learn to identify the changes in your heart rate beat per minute (bpm) as your work rate increases.
Move: ensuring our body becomes more efficient requires us to move more to increase our heart rate above resting rate. Think: we can monitor our heart rate using our index and middle finger to count the beats per minute.

Mistake: Thinking the heart rate and breathing rate are zero when at rest. Correction: Our body needs the energy from the oxygen we breathe in order to maintain basic living functions, hence why our heart rate is always raised above 0.
