This unit will explore the relationship between health, fitness, exercise and performance before unpacking the different components of fitness. This understanding will include key definitions, how to test and train each but also which components are most important for different sports.
You will learn to state the benefits for, and limitations of, fitness testing and evaluate the relevance of fitness testing for sport.
Fitness tests identify strengths and weaknesses in performance and monitor improvements. Fitness tests are used to establish initial fitness levels and inform training requirements.
