Year 10 - Physical education
Physical training: health and fitness
This unit will explore the relationship between health, fitness, exercise and performance before unpacking the different components of fitness. This understanding will include key definitions, how to test and train each but also which components are most important for different sports.
You will learn to define health and fitness, understand the relationship between them and know how they impact sports.
Health involves physical, mental and social well–being. Fitness is the ability to meet the demands of the environment.
a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Mistake: Thinking that being physically fit means someone is automatically healthy. Correction: Explain that just because someone appears physically fit, it doesn't mean they have good emotional or social health.
